Mbira Escama African fan, handmade in the Republic of Benin with 100% cotton African wax fabric in shades of black, orange, yellow, and green. Its dense and vibrant print, composed of spiral scale-like shapes, evokes African percussion instruments and the natural flow of rhythm in traditional dance.

The name Mbira Escama refers to the mbira, also known as the “thumb piano,” a traditional instrument from southern Africa that produces cyclical, enveloping sounds. The fan’s scales simulate this visual rhythm, which repeats and connects us with bodily and spiritual movement.
💡 Cultural fact: The mbira is not only musical: it is also meditation, communication with ancestors, and a tool for collective healing.
