Adinkra Mawu African fan, handmade in the Republic of Benin with 100% cotton African wax fabric in white, black, and gold accents. Its design is composed of abstract symbols, hand shapes, and zoomorphic elements reminiscent of adinkra symbols, a visual writing system originating from the Akan people.

The name Adinkra Mawu pays homage to the sacred symbols used in West Africa to convey values and proverbs, and to Mawu, the mother goddess of the Ewe and Fon people, a symbol of creation, the moon, and universal harmony.
💡 Cultural fact: Adinkra symbols are not decorative; each one represents an idea, such as strength, love, community, or spiritual protection.
